Reporting to both the HR Director, Simon & Schuster UK, with a dotted line into the Managing Director in Australia, Sydney, you will proactively partner with a diverse client group to optimise business performance and employee experience.
You will be responsible for:
- You’ll work closely with the Simon & Schuster HR team in the UK & US and collaborate on HR and L&D projects as required
- Partnering with the Simon & Schuster business on organizational design, workforce planning, succession planning, and performance & development
- Localising and implementing a variety of people programs and projects including culture, benefits, engagement, reward, wellbeing
- You’ll work with the Simon & Schuster International team to roll out corporate HR initiatives
- The role will be a combination of strategic & operational HR and as such you’ll be responsible for preparing a range of documents, including employment contracts, reports and resource materials
- You will be fully responsible for managing all aspects of monthly Payroll.

- As required, you will provide HR advice and expertise to manage any employee performance-related issues, including educating line managers in best practice
Person specification requirement
S&S Australia is looking for:
- An energetic HR generalist with strong analytical and research skills, willing to work for a fast paced growing business
- A contemporary thinker, with a proven track record across all generalist disciplines
- A professional with tertiary HR qualifications and demonstrated success in a business partnering role in a small to mid-sized dynamic organisation
- Exceptional communication and influencing skills and an outgoing and confident style that can engage people across all levels
- Good at managing your time to ensure that priorities and deadlines are met
- A flexible attitude and the ability to pragmatically adapt plans and implementation where needed
- Confidence to speak up and advocate where needed, being able to diplomatically walk the line between management’s and staff’s interests
- Strong emotional and social intelligence
- Experience with Ceridian Dayforce systems strongly preferred.
Desired but not essential:
- Analytical & research skills
- Previous experience in acquisitions
- Previous experience with NZ workplace legislation
- Previous experience in leading cultural change
