Reliability Engineer I
Job Summary
The associate at this level is expected to develop testing and reliability solutions, analyze and solve reliability problems, and work with design engineers to ensure product reliability meets customer expectations and requirements. The types of problems and areas of focus would cover items pertaining to existing products, new products, and/or as-yet-undeveloped ideas.
Essential Job Functions *
- Evaluates manufactured or purchased products to ensure they meet safety, ergonomics, functionality, serviceability, budget, and market characteristics.
- Predicts test performance based on sound engineering practices. Plans and directs personnel in fabrication of test equipment and develops methods and procedures for testing products or systems.
- May perform hands-on preliminary testing of concepts. Analyzes test data for accuracy and ensures that test reports clearly communicate results.
- Participates in the hands-on assembly or prototyping of engineering concepts and/or Alpha build products.
- Investigates and solves problems that affect scrap, warranty/reliability and product cost for new and/or existing products.
- Participates in the New Product Development process and provides needed test or reliability information to support new product development initiatives.
- Supports the product validation process to ensure any product, supplier or manufacturing changes to existing products are adequately tested and documented in a timely manner.
- Participates in ongoing process or product continuous improvement efforts for the overall business

Education & Experience
- BS/BA in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipling and 0-3 years’ experience in a related field.
- Ability to create test fixture designs using CAD software is preferred.
- Basic reliability engineering experience and basic working knowledge of testing requirements; able to define test requirements and provide detailed results with some assistance.
Competencies – Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Basic Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Basic ReliaSoft or other similar software packages.
- Basic Oracle Agile or other similar PLM/PDM software package.
- Basic LabVIEW data acquisition programming experience.
- Basic reliability engineering familiarity with:
- Product testing; shear, tension, environmental, life cycle and safe working load.

- Electronic devices
- Products/assemblies with consideration for Design for Manufacturability/Serviceability
- Theoretical and introductory practical knowledge of RCA, 8D, 5Y processes.
- Practical working knowledge of test procedures and methods.
- Able to take project assignments and carry them through to successful implementation with supervisory. oversight.
- Able to present solution concepts through sketch, verbal and formal presentation means.
