Tourism + Group Sales Intern

PURPOSE:

To plan and coordinate details of corporate and internal group sales functions, communicate with clients, internal departments, and external vendors to ensure smooth coordination of events and assist in all other areas of the Group Sales and Tourism departments. To ensure guests of MOA, Crayola and Nickelodeon Universe have a positive shopping and entertainment experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist sales representatives in all areas of group sales and tourism, including overseeing the tourism customer service mailbox, answering incoming calls, working with clients, the development of sales collateral, direct mail campaigns, etc.
  2. Assist and/or responsible for the planning, organizing, and executing of group sales and tourism internal events. Assist with larger events as needed.
  3. Assist with questions and bookings for Nickelodeon Universe, Moose Mountain Adventure Golf, Adventure Bay and Crayola birthday parties.
  4. Coordinate corporate/group gift card sales.
  5. Coordinate all food voucher group orders.
  6. Enter new leads & client information into databases to create mailing lists, etc.
  7. Attend internal meetings to ensure communication of event details to other departments.
  8. Attend trade shows promoting Mall of America.
  9. Assist with tourism FAMS and meet and greets
  10. Work with outside caterers on the management of catered events.
  11. Assist with group sales for Crayola Experience.
  12. Assist with creation of the MOA coupon book and official Visitors Guide
  13. Create VIP Shopping package vouchers for groups and events.
  14. Manage Explore Minnesota Tourism brochure program.
  15. Participate in Mall-wide events throughout the year as needed.
  16. Other special projects as assigned.

PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Post high school education in related area is preferred.
  • 1-2 years in event coordination preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organization skills
  • Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules including weekends, evenings and holidays

PHYSICAL JOB REQURIEMENTS

  • Sitting, frequently, 70% of time spent on computer, phone and meetings.
  • Stand and move, occasionally, 15 - 20% of time spent walking, standing, giving tours, set for events.
