The Deputy Public Defender provides legal representation to accused individuals facing felony or misdemeanor charges, juvenile adjudication, and mental health commitments.

Key Tasks:
- Maintain direct contact with clients through correspondence, phone calls, and in-person meetings
- Represent defendants in various court appearances, including pretrial discovery, withdrawal of pleas, and suppression notices.
- Negotiate plea bargains on behalf of clients and attend post-trial sentencing hearings
- Work collaboratively with support staff to ensure effective legal representation
Requirements:
- Completion of a law degree from an ABA accredited school.
- Possession of a valid Indiana law license.
- Minimum of two years of experience in criminal litigation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and handle a significant workload.
Employment Details:
- Full-time: Exempt position
Work Schedule:
- 37.5 hours per week; additional hours as needed
