SUMMARY: 

This role has the exciting responsibility of leading joyful Jewish experiences for the diverse J Camps Community. In partnership with year-round J life department, using experiential education and other methods, they will ground activities and interactions in Jewish values. They will inspire an appreciation for Jewish peoplehood to elevate the overall J Camp[ES1] s platform.

 

Length of Position:

  • June 24th, 2024 - August 16th, 2024- approx. hours 8:15-4:45pm

 

Pre-Camp Duties

  • Pre camp meetings with JCC J Life department
  • June 14th-11am to 5pm
  • June 17th-12pm to 5pm
  • June 18th- 12pm to 6pm
  • June 20th-12pm to 8pm-Back to camp night
  • June 21st-8:15am to 4:45pm

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO: 

  • Supervise, participate and administer ”Midot” and value based activity period for campers in grades K-8th grade.
  • Work cooperatively with camp leadership, counselors, and other departments to lead activities that are exciting, challenging and value based.
  • Work with the Music specialist and Director of J LIFE to plan weekly Shabbats  
  • Perform specific scheduled assignments, including but not limited to carpool. 
  • Keep immediate supervisor informed daily of any concerns or problems concerning campers and facilities.
  • Be a consistent role model for campers.
  • Ensure that campers know and follow safety procedures during camp programs.
  • Work with the Logistics Coordinator and Program Director to order supplies for all Jewish Life activities
  • Attending pre-camp staff training.

 

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Knowledge of and experience with informal Jewish education.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; college credits and formal experience in Jewish Education is preferred.
  • Desire to make a positive difference in the lives of young people.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to follow / give directions and work as a team member.
  • Strong leadership and organization skills
  • Willingness to ask for assistance when needed or desired.


work enviroNment:

The work environment is usually fast paced.  This job requires high-energy and the stamina to maintain constant supervision during the day across the campus.   This job requires interaction with staff as well as participants with special needs and their families.

 

 

physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is required to have enough mobility to assist others with less mobility. The employee must be physically able to react safely and appropriately if participant’s behaviors warrant physical action such as running or restraining. The employee may be asked to assist with transferring participants from wheelchairs.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
