SUMMARY:

Ropes Course Specialists are responsible for facilitating daily ropes course activities to campers from entering Kindergarten to our teen programs. Position will work outside on low ropes elements, zipline, and high ropes elements. This position works on a team that is led by the Head of Ropes.

Length of Position:

  • June 24, 2024 - August 16, 2024- approx. hours 8:30-4:45pm

 

Pre-Camp Duties

  1. Attend certification trainings
    1. June 16-18th (Ropes Course Training)
  2. Staff Orientation
  • June 14th-11am to 5pm
  • June 17th-12pm to 5pm
  • June 18th- 12pm to 6pm
  • June 20th-12pm to 8pm-Back to camp night
  • June 21st-8:15am to 4:45pm

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Work with the Head of Ropes and ropes course team to facilitate high and low ropes challenge courses.
  • Keep immediate supervisor informed daily of any concerns or problems concerning campers and facilities.
  • Be a consistent role model for campers.
  • Store equipment properly.
  • Ensure that the facility is kept clean and safe, so that children are in a safe and comfortable environment.
  • Relay program rules to campers in a positive manner.
  • Ensure that campers know and follow safety procedures during camp programs.
  • Attending pre-camp staff training.

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS:

  • Experience working with children ages 4-15, preferably in a camp setting. 
  • Comfortable with heights.
  • Experience at summer camp or similar environment preferred.
  • Willingness to follow / give directions and work as a team member.
  • Strong leadership and organization skills
  • Willingness to work as a part of a team.
  • Willingness to ask for assistance when needed or desired.

 

 WHO YOU ARE:

  • Applicant must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; college credits and formal or informal outdoor education preferred.
  • Physical ability to perform all duties on the course.
  • Previous ropes course experience preferred.  

 

PHYSICAL SKILLS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment may be fast paced and requires high energy and interaction with others. The employee may also be required to frequently be on their feet for periods of time and in the outdoor elements.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
