Overview

 

Reporting to the Director of Photography, the Cinematographer will bring Ravens stories to our fans using their creativity, drive, technical ability, and the magic of their lens. This position is responsible for filming everything in and around our team, including gamedays, practices, press conferences, community and marketing events, sponsored content, and both in-studio and remote shoots. This position will collaborate to create dynamic content for multiple platforms including social media, television, and in-stadium Ravensvision boards.

The person in this role will be expected to have a firm technical understanding of production fundamentals and possess the ability and drive to be a solo operator. They must display advanced aptitude for visual storytelling, manual focus, location sound, interview lighting, on-set safety, and the ability to work with athletes, coaches, and talent.

This role will have proximity to many departments, including the football team. You will be expected to conduct yourself professionally, be respectful to others, maintain the strictest level of privacy, and represent our department well.  The candidate for this role must also understand that this is a production job in professional sports, and as such there will be irregular hours depending on the football or production schedule.

 

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Work with creative teams, as well as internal and external clients, to plan and execute video shoots.
  • Film practices, press conferences, community events, marketing initiatives, sponsored content, and games.
  • Set up tripods, cameras, microphones, lighting and stands and assist with studio organization, treating gear with respect.
  • Pull focus, operate audio sound mixers, boom audio, and safely set up light stands and fixtures.
  • Be a critical thinker who can anticipate and solve problems.
  • Work with vendors to maintain our relationships, secure and return shipments of rentals and demo equipment.
  • Work closely with producers and editors to ensure we are delivering a technically and creatively sound product that eases workflows and inspires creativity.
  • Establish and maintain excellent, respectful working relationships with coaches, players, and front office staff.

 

 

 

​Required Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum three to five years videography experience, preferably in the professional sports industry.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with Arri and Sony digital cinema cameras is required.
  • Experience with lighting fixtures – Arri, Aputure, Astera, Hudson Spider and Litepanels is preferred.

 

 

Prerequisite Abilities and/or Skills

 

  • Ability to set up interview lighting; three-point lighting is the bare minimum requirement.
  • Ability to wrap cable, set up lighting stands, and pack gear safely.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50lbs due to the weight of our camera packages.
  • Written and verbal communication skills; must be able to effectively communicate with team members and others throughout the organization.
  • High emotional intelligence, intellectual curiosity, pride in work, and desire to grow professionally.
