Why this job matters:

 

Lead internal communications for the organization, ensuring regular and transparent communications. Develop and implement an internal communications strategy which supports overall business strategy, people strategy and employee engagement, and demonstrates the organization’s commitment to DEIB. Manage internal company-wide meetings and events.

 

What you will do:

 

  • Develop and implement an internal communication strategy for the organization that supports the overall business strategy and people strategy to foster employee engagement and promote a positive workplace culture.
  • Support executive leaders translating their vision and priorities into clear and compelling messages for employees.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and public relations to align external communication priorities and campaigns with internal audiences.
  • Collaborate with HR leadership to design communication plans for employee benefits programs, talent management initiatives, and other HR-related efforts.
  • Create alignment with brand strategy and standards through coordination with Marketing and Legal teams as it relates to corporate and BCBSA standards.
  • Work in collaboration DEIB team to provide internal communications support for all initiatives and programing including with EBRGs
  • Manage internal communication channels, including email newsletters, company-wide meetings, intranet platforms, and digital signage, to ensure timely and effective dissemination of information.
  • Monitor and analyze communication metrics to assess the effectiveness of internal communication initiatives and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and ensure adherence to goals and deadlines for the internal communications function.

 

What you need to succeed:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Human Resources or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five to seven years experience in internal communications, with a focus on HR-related initiatives and executive communication
  • Three to five years management experience or experience leading a team
  • Strong understanding of DEIB principles
  • Strong working knowledge and experience in developing communication strategies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information into clear and concise messages
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to collaborate while dealing with complex situations
  • Ability to think creatively and to drive innovation
  • Ability to influence up and across the organization
  • Ability to motivate, lead and inspire a diverse group to a common goal/solution with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to convert business strategy into action-oriented objectives and measurable results
  • Ability to develop and manage a budget
  • Strong negotiating, influencing, and consensus-building skills
  • Ability to mentor, coach and provide guidance to others

Location:

 

BCBSRI is headquartered in downtown Providence, conveniently located near the train station and bus terminal. We actively support associate well-being and work/life balance and offer the following schedules, based on role:

  • In-office: onsite 5 days per week
  • Hybrid: onsite 2-4 days per week
  • Remote: onsite 0-1 days per week. Permitted to reside in the following states, pending approval from the Human Resources Department: Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia
