The Reston, VA office of Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP, one of the world’s leading and largest intellectual property law firms, is seeking a Recruitment and Professional Development Coordinator.  The Recruitment & Professional Development Coordinator will utilize knowledge of firm culture and resources to efficiently provide assistance, coordination, and communications for attorney recruiting training and development programs.  This position will also assist with managing the on and off boarding processes for attorney types ensuring compliance.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Assist with recruiting activities, prepare recruiting materials, manage job postings for all offices, coordinate candidate interviews with attorneys, greet and escort candidates, communicate with candidates and attorneys regarding interview schedules, collect candidate interview feedback, and manage candidate clearance process  
  • Manage resume tracking database and applicant/hiring process to ensure compliance with firm procedures for submittal and review of applications and supplemental documents  
  • Assist with the On-Campus Interview (OCI) process, including OCI registrations, initial review of OCI resumes, and preparation of OCI schedules and materials for interviewers  
  • Coordinate office specific summer associate program; assist with regional orientation week, coordinate summer associate work assignment and evaluation process, and summer professional development programs. §  
  • Event/Training Planning and Participation  
  • Coordinate office specific and firm-wide events (attorney receptions, practice group events, summer associate events, and others as requested), including planning, creating invitations, RSVP tracking and attendance records, etc.  
  • Participate in employer outreach and networking events as requested  
  • Participate in summer associate, patent agent/technical specialist, and attorney events as requested  
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with vendors, career service offices, and firm personnel to effectively perform job responsibilities  
  • Process new hires  
  • Assist with the on-boarding process, including communicating with the new hire class after they accept in the fall (reimbursement procedures, etc.)  
  • Coordinate orientation and assimilation of new attorneys and attorney­ types into the firm, including ensuring completion of all new hire forms as needed.  
  • Process and track attorney-type departures  
  • Work with Chief and Directors to maintain viGlobal database  
  • Support attorney-type performance evaluation processes  
  • Accurately compiles evaluation information for practice group leaders and other members of firm management during Spring/Fall evaluation cycles, Senior Special Review and Partnership Admission/Evaluation Review processes  
  • Liaise with practice group/section leaders to coordinate appropriate training programs; coordinate logistics for training programs with AV Team, Facilities, Conference room scheduling and other departments as needed  
  • Track RSVPs and attendance for training programs using the PD Center.  
  • Process CLE applications in timely manner  
  • Work with PD Team to develop monthly newsletter publication  
  • Conduct exit interviews for departing attorneys and attorney-types  
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned  

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required  
  • At least four years' experience in a professional business environment with a minimum of two years' experience with legal recruiting and development required  
  • Proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite, including meeting platforms such as Teams and Zoom, and the ability to learn the systems and databases used by the department and the firm.  
  • Knowledge of viGlobal performance management and recruiting software preferred  
  • Understanding of HRIS/payroll and database software, preferably Ceridian Dayforce.  
  • Excellent oral and written communication (including spelling and grammar) and interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with all levels of firm personnel, and a variety of external entities in a professional manner.  
  • Ability to work without direct supervision  
  • Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on attention to detail  
  • Ability to efficiently handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-oriented environment  
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team within the firm's established structures  
  • Must have the ability to work well under pressure, meet frequent deadlines, and prioritize multiple tasks.  
  • Flexible attitude and the ability to deal well with changing assignments and priorities; willingness to learn and acquire advanced duties, and provide support to varied office members
