Job Title: Batch Plant Operator

 

Department: Production

Reports to: Supervisor

 

Effective Date: Immediate Opening 

Job Summary:
 

The Batch Plant Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the batch plant while ensuring mix design and quantities are correct.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Loading, batching, and testing concrete products to meet specifications.
  • Weighs and mixes concrete materials.
  • Verifies all materials are in stock before production begins.  Operates mixing plant to produce batches of concrete from cement, sand, aggregate, water and other ingredients.
  • Communicates with QC to make any necessary adjustments to mix and oversees all concrete output.  Turns in all batch tickets to QC.
  • Maintain clean and SAFE workspace.
  • Assist Quality Control personnel with production data monitoring.
  • Material handling.
  • Ensures equipment is cleaned and maintained properly.
  • Equipment operation (Forklift).
  • Advises supervisor of any issues after daily inspections of the batch plant are completed.
  • Assists with Inventory.
  • Other duties maybe assigned.
  • Schedule is Monday-Friday 7AM-3:45PM with occasional Saturdays as needed. Overtime required as needed.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with tools, hand tools and equipment safely.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, twist, walk, must be able to use various hand tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance on elevated surfaces; and stoop, kneel, squat, crouch or crawl. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Climbing ladders and moving concrete material are necessary for this position. Constant and continual medium to heavy manual, physical labor is required for this position.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
  • Some experience around concrete batching equipment preferred.
  • On-the- job training offered.
  • Precast/construction experience preferred, but not required.
  • Basic team skills, planning and organization skills.
  • Ability to follow complex instruction.
  • Basic computer skills a plus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:
 

Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as work boots, hard hats, work gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective clothing and equipment and respirators when necessary. This is an indoor/outdoor work environment: Exposure to sun, heat, humidity, cold, wind, light rain, sand, water and dust.
