SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Tamarack Materials, Inc. Dispatcher’s primary function is to direct and coordinate the delivery of materials to customers in the day-to-day operations. The Dispatcher adheres to and promotes corporate policies and manages the general use of equipment, trucks, delivery personnel and materials. This employee directs all activities that concern delivery, warehouse, and facilities.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; following up on work results
  • Work on jobsites with staff to safely unload product and deliver to assigned area as directed by the Delivery Driver while prioritizing personal safety and the safety of those around you
  • All other duties as assigned

Warehouse

  • Maintain receiving, warehousing and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures
  • Complies with and enforces adherence company, state, and federal guidelines particularly as it relates to OSHA and DOT for the safety of all personnel
  • Completes warehouse/delivery requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results
  • Maintains physical condition of warehouse by inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement
  • Maintain accurate inventory and bin locations for all products in the yard and warehouse by minimizing materials damage, ensuring order accuracy, and processing returned materials

Logistics Management

  • Ensure that the equipment and delivery trucks used have the ability to provide service for the customer at a DOT legally acceptable standard
  • Responsible for delivery staff completing pre and post trip inspections on equipment to ensure DOT compliance and employee safety
  • Ensure all DOT and crane inspections are up-to-date for DOT compliance and employee safety
  • Coordinates with personnel to ensure that service to the customer meets an acceptable standard and generates positive feedback
  • Constantly work with the company delivery system and inspection system to update and maintain data for staff

Operational Strategizing

  • Plays a key role in the overall operational policies
  • Formulates strategies on how to make an optimum use of the resources of the organization
  • Communicates and works closely with neighboring yards to maximize operational efforts to get all deliveries out in a timely manner and meet customer expectations and needs

Safety Management

  • Assures compliance with the Safety and Loss Control Program
  • Maintain health and safety compliance in accordance with company policy
  • Work in cooperation with the Safety Manager and GMS Risk Management representatives in the investigation, analysis of potential hazards to enforce methods and reduce losses of claims
  • Lead the weekly safety meetings with operations staff
  • Successfully complete monthly MORA field ID inspections
  • Responsible for training Delivery and Warehouse staff as well as maintaining staff training files
  • Maintain fleet files for all Warehouse and Delivery vehicles

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Licensing/Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED, required
  • College degree, preferred
  • Minimum two (2) years dispatch or related work experience

 

OTHER COMPETENCIES:

  • Ability to self-manage, show initiative and be proactive
  • Communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing, to employees, co-workers at other yards, and customers
  • Strong Microsoft office skills
  • Ability to quickly and accurately perform basic math skills
  • Ability to quickly read a road/geographical map and communicate directions
  • Organization skills demonstrated in job performance
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions with limited guidance

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to remain in stationary position 70% of shift
  • Occasionally, will move about inside the office to access files, office machinery, etc.
  • Must be able to operate basic office machinery
  • Must be able to communicate with team and management and be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
  • Occasionally working in an office environment
  • Occasionally, working in an outside environment in all weather conditions while making deliveries and performing inspections
