Graphic Design Screen Printer

SCOPE:

The print shop supports Gulfstream Goodwill Industries' mission of providing supportive employment to individuals. This job requires attention to detail while supporting the print shop Supervisor in providing a quality product to its customers while expanding product offerings to grow Gulfstream’s mission. The Graphic Design Screen Printer will design and develop printed graphics on a variety of substrates, apply and cure these designs using screen and lithographic techniques to apply colors, textures, and patterns. Graphic Design Screen Printer will manage and maintain screen printing equipment, including equipment and supplies, and test new inks, coatings, and other materials.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Designing Screen Print Patterns:
  • Creating visually appealing designs according to customer specifications.
  • Selecting appropriate screen sizes, degreasing agents, and emulsion coatings.
• Preparing Stencils and Screens:
  • Examining work orders to estimate printing times, ink quantities, and material requirements.
  • Loading screens into the printer and positioning them correctly.
  • Installing and repositioning screen-printing plates and pressure rollers.
• Operating the Printing Machine:
  • Calibrating the printer before each batch is printed.
  • Running prints and performing quality checks throughout the printing process.
  • Troubleshooting any errors that arise during printing.

OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Drying, folding, and packing completed articles after the print run.
• Ensuring the final printed items meet customer specifications.
• Demonstrate by words and actions a commitment to the Goodwill mission to help people with disabilities and other barriers to become self-sufficient, working members of the community.
• Perform or assist with any duties or operations to maintain workflow and meet schedules and quality requirements.
• Maintain a safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules, keeping the work area in a clean and orderly condition

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Experience: 2+ years previous work experience as a screen printer.
• Knowledge of Embroidery & Screen Printing
• Excellent interpersonal skills required, including working well with a diverse population.
• Must participate in supervision with a positive and appropriate attitude and must communicate effectively with the supervisor.
• Must be reliable and flexible.
• Must show initiative and be willing to accept new challenges.
• Must be able to prioritize workload and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet close deadlines.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Excellent hand-eye coordination.

• Comfort with manual labor.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Proficiency in working with ink and chemicals.
• Manual operation of large machinery.
• Ability to work independently during long shifts.
• Must be able to pass AHCA-APD & Medicaid screening.
