SCOPE:
Perform duties to coordinate, monitor, and provide assistance, a safe and secure environment to participants in the waiting area and residence; assist navigators as needed; and contribute to the mission of Goodwill by providing a safe environment for formerly homeless individuals and families, guided by limits of established standards and accepted practice.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Greet and assist guests while creating a welcoming environment for guests
- Sign in volunteers and any guest or non-guest during the day
- Answer phone, field phone inquiries, direct phone calls to staff and take messages
- Ensure that all office space and common area is thoroughly cleaned daily
- Maintain an adequate supply of all program forms in the file drawers
- Copy forms and reports as needed or requested by Housing Advocate Case Managers, Shift Coordinators, and Program Directors
- Conduct Bag and Person screenings: Monitors search all guests’ person and belongings being brought into the shelter each time a guest enters for admission during intake. (This is a critical step in ensuring the safety and security of everyone. It is essential to treat every participant with equal dignity and professionalism every time they are screened).
- Assist entering guests with placing items in the Hot Box
- Ensure intake, program application, and records are accurate and current.
- Inform clients of policies, procedures, services, rights, and responsibilities; maintain equipment, supplies, shelter facility, and grounds for cleanliness, safety, and security.
- Prepare, maintain, and file reports, forms, records, and attendance sheets.
- Participate in training to upgrade skills as courses become available. Complete all GGI required trainings within six months of hire
- Perform any range of departmental assignments or special projects as requested.
- Complete intake forms and upload them into CMIS
- Complete a progress orientation note.
- Review Closed charts in preparation for storage
- Prepare activities for pro-social activities
OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Demonstrate by words and actions a commitment to the Goodwill mission to help people experiencing homelessness become self-sufficient, working community members.
- Perform or assist with any duties or operations to maintain workflow and meet schedules and quality requirements.
- Maintain a safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules, keeping the work area clean and orderly.
- Participate in various meetings and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain a specified level of knowledge about new developments, requirements, and policies.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Education: High School Diploma
- Proficient with usage of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Excellent verbal communication skills and good written communication skills
- Excellent people skills
- One year experience in a residential setting and two years of customer service.
- Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment and take direction
- Individuals who are formerly homeless are encouraged to apply
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to deal with a wide variety of people positively.
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Residential setting
- Repetitive pushing, pulling, stretching, reaching, kneeling, stooping, and bending
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking
- Ability to lift and carry up to 45 lbs. minimum
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Computer, standard peripherals and office equipment, kitchen and laundry appliances, and safety equipment.
SHIFTS:
Evenings & Weekends (as needed)
