Primary Responsibility / Summary 

 

Maintains current commodity vendor accounts. Enters invoices into the company ledger. Completes data entry for trash, metal, mattress & cardboard. Sends out emails to customers/vendors for payment. Keeps track of the commodities inventory and works with Commodities Sales Manager for ways to increase revenue.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Conducts the sale of commodities, collects vendor payments, arranges pick-ups and coordinates schedules.
  2. Schedules, coordinates, and confirms commodity pick-ups are conducted efficiently while ensuring proper communication with Goodwill Departments.
  3. Maintains current commodity vendor accounts, while sourcing new vendors.
  4. Maintains required documentation to ensure compliance with State and Federal Agency requirements.
  5. Provides excellent customer service, expediting requests and/or concerns, and ensures billing inquiries are resolved in a timely matter.
  6. Assists in growing commodities lines, along with expanding the vendor base to divert the volume of goods sent to the landfill.
  7. Maintains and manages vendor accounts, receives original invoices and BOL’s, tracks discrepancies, maintains revenue ledger, collects balances due, submits check requests for refunds and communicates with the Business Office when there are billing inquires.
  8. Ensures the certifications of scale calibration are up to date and provides Certificate of Calibration to vendors.
  9. Maintains accurate documentation for MUTs, pallets and gaylords, ensuring they are tracked and returned as expected.
  10. Creates reports including EODs, Post Retail Schedules and Ledgers.
  11. This position requires some local travel (<25% of the time) a valid CA driver's license and state-required auto insurance is required.  Driving record must be acceptable by the Company’s insurance vendor.

  2. Assists the Logistics Team as needed.

Education & Experience

  • Min 2 years of commodities sales experience.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Possesses excellent customer relations skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and multi-task.
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees.
  • Produces results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Spanish / English bilingual preferred. 
  • Must have experience creating reports in Excel.
  • Possesses a valid driver's license and state-required auto insurance.

  •     Must have intermediate knowledge of computer programs in a Windows environment, including Word, Excel, Teams and E-mail.

  •     Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

 

Reasoning Ability

  •     Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
