Job Overview

Prototypes Women's Center-Oxnard provides detoxification and residential substance abuse treatment to women. Our program is unique in that women can bring their children in.


Responsible for supervision of clients, evaluating immediate client need, responding to client needs, and directing them to services into treatment with them, so they do not have to separate from their children to get services. Our goal is to help stabilize women in their recovery and transition them to outpatient services, stable housing, a new support group and employment/school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supervision of clients, evaluating immediate client need, responding to client needs, and directing them to services.
  • Responsible for maintenance of client charts and filing system; including filing, logging group sign-in sheets, logging client passes, setting up client charts, breaking down client charts, and calculation of service hours.
  • Provide nightly accounting of work completion.
  • Ensure that staff common areas are cleaned nightly.
  • Initiate and supervise client drug testing.
  • Supervise medication disbursement for both residential and detox.

Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Minimum of one year experience working with substance abusing and/or mentally ill population.
  • Ability to provide proof of current registration from one of the addiction counselor certification boards in California.
  • Enrollment or completion of a State approved addiction education program working toward State certification as an addiction counselor.
  • Willingness to work and learn in a community-based setting emphasizing integration of alcohol, drug, and mental health treatment concepts.
  • Dependable automobile and insurance registration with valid CA Driver's License.
  • Knowledge and respect of all confidentiality issues.
  • People oriented.
  • Professional and honest.
