Job Overview
 
Lee Woodward Counseling Center for Women (LWCC) is a comprehensive multi-cultural and multi-lingual adult women’s outpatient program that provides integrated substance use and mental health treatment services.

 

Recognizing that recovery is a lifelong process, our healing approaches address the physical, mental and emotional health of individuals and families. Our program goals include providing a safe and respectful counseling space for people from all walks of life, reducing and eliminating substance misuse, and improving mental health conditions that lead to healthy and meaningful lives. We believe that behavioral health is a fundamental part of overall wellness for all families and communities. As a community, we can learn to recognize and address mental health, alcohol and other drug problems. Our counseling approach is strength-based, valuing and accepting people for who they are, who they have become and who they can be.

 

Clients receive individualized, client-centered and culturally competent treatment and case management. Services include intake and assessment, individual and group counseling, process and psycho-education groups, relapse prevention, recreational activities, and continuing care. Alternative therapies are also available (yoga, acupuncture, and mindfulness). Clients move through each phase of recovery to build independence, self-sufficiency, confidence, pride, supportive relationships, and family reunification by reducing and eliminating the misuse of substances. 

The Program Manager is responsible for overseeing and implementing outpatient behavioral health program services, clinical activities, and staffing to ensure program compliance with contracts and licensing regulations for Lee Woodward Counseling Center for Women. The Program Manager sets the clinical tone, utilizing trauma-informed , gender-responsive, evidence-based, and harm reduction approaches. Coordinates with other departments within and outside of the agency to ensure that client needs are being met in support of health and recovery.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversees program services and activities while ensuring compliance with contracts and licensing which includes meeting Drug MediCal ODS standards.
  • Oversees management of staff and agency volunteers, which includes registered and certified AOD counselors and master's-level mental health clinicians.
  • Ensures all staff are trained on and competent with program policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Develops and maintains strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinates with other departments within and outside of the agency to ensure that client needs are being met in support of health and recovery. 
  • Responsible for the oversight of the program needs, including safety, security, compliance, and accountability.
  • Responsible for assuring program census and service delivery are maximized to facilitate program’s financial viability.
  • Responsible for meeting program quality assurance standards including documentation requirements, client experience, outcomes, and productivity. 

    Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
     
    Education Required:
  • Master's Degree in counseling, psychology, or social work.
  • A valid registration under California Board of Behavioral Science (AMFT, ASW, APCC) or SUD certification with DHCS-approved organization.
  • At least 4 years experience providing behavioral health services for diverse communities.
  • 2 years management/supervisor experience in a behavioral health setting.
  • Valid CA Driver’s License.
  • First Aid Certified within 30 days of employment.
  • CPR Certified within 30 days of employment.
  • Desired:
  • Licensed MFT, LCSW or LPCC in the state of California with 2+ years of post licensure clinical experience OR -Current and valid Alcohol and Drug Counseling Certification recognized by DHCS (e.g. CCAPP, CAADE, CADTP).

Background Clearance Required:

  • Must not be on active parole or probation.
  • Must be able to pass CDCR Live Scan clearance.

Knowledge Required:

  • Understanding of social services, substance use and mental health services systems.
  •  Knowledge of principles and techniques of case management, crisis intervention, client centered counseling, and group facilitation.
  • Understanding of culturally competent services and trauma informed practices.
  • Knowledge of co-occurring disorders.
  • Knowledge of clinical documentation (treatment plans, progress notes, etc.).
  • Understanding of harm reduction.

Desired:

  • Knowledge of evidence based practices such as DBT, Seeking Safety, CBT, MI.
  • Experience with Drug Medi-Cal.
  • Experience working with API communities.
  • Experience working with criminal justice population.
  • Experience with EHR systems (e.g. Welligent, Avatar).
