Senior Estimator - DFH

Reports To:  PCS Manager I
FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary

Responsible for strategic estimating of Door, Frame, Hardware packages for large-capital commercial construction projects accurately and on time.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Read and interpret contract documents, including but not limited to scope of work, requests for proposal, project schedules, drawings/details, specifications, and opening schedules to form bid strategies and keeping Sales informed
• Manage risk by finding discrepancies and communicate/clarify issues through RFIs and/or document in clarification letter in a timely manner
• Identify and develop opportunities for value engineering by defining alternatives to the proposed scope that are more cost-efficient
• Prepare detailed take-off and estimates utilizing Bluebeam and MS Excel exports of door schedules for importing into Comsense
• Enter door and frame attributes and hardware sets for manufacturer RFQs for pricing in Comsense
• Generate pricing from Manufacturer online estimating platforms (VT online, Masonite) by leveraging Comsense RFQs
• Enter quoted material unit pricing and discounts from manufacturers as applicable.
• Prioritize and send RFQs for manufacturers not in Comsense when applicable
• Compile comprehensive DFH estimate in ISEC Projects, including material, freight, detailing/engineering, escalation, and installation costs for turnover to region
• Responsible for ensuring that all quantities and pricing are accurate and complete
• Leads the documentation management of the project in alignment with established standards. Ensures all documents are complete
• Facilitate engagement with Sales/Region as necessary to keep team informed of constraints, plan of action and progress
• Participate in bid closings and estimate reviews
• Balance workload and assignments to meet deadlines
• Manage action items from Post Bid and finalize ISEC scope.
• Compute cost estimates for subcontracted work to ensure comprehensive coverage of requirements, and labor.

Preferred Qualifications (in addition to minimum qualifications)

Education/Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• DHI Certifications – DHC or AHC (preferred)
• Experience with Comsense Opening Suite
• Experience with manufacturer’s Programs: Assa Abloy (Extranet/CRC Dash), Curries (COW/Edge), Allegion (360 Portal),dormakaba, Masonite (DoorBuilder/DoorBuilder LIVE), VT (VT Online), Total Door (Doorbuilder), Eggers EOL

Knowledge/Skills

• Ability to provide design build assistance and specification writing

Minimum Qualifications 

• 8+ years in DFH Distributor as an estimator
• Meets all Minimum Qualifications of Estimator I and II, in addition to the following:
