Position Summary

The Intern is responsible for assisting with a wide range of project duties such as reviewing shop drawings and contract documents, releasing material, monitoring vendors, managing documents, field dimensioning, as well as completing submittals and delivery schedules.

 

Duties & Responsibilities may include:

Operations

  1. Review project specifications for shop drawings and submittal requirements.  Prepare transmittals and QC shop drawings.
  2. Review shop drawings when they are returned from general contractor or owner for compliance with estimates and scope of work. Discuss any changes with the Project Manager.
  3. Prepare transmittals, submittals and release checklist in relation to releasing product for fabrication.
  4. Assist Project Manager in preparing quotes for owner’s or general contractor’s request for changes. Obtain quotes from manufacturers and assemble all necessary information for labor estimate sheet, project bid record, and change order summary pricing.
  5. Prepare operation and maintenance manuals, guaranteesSubmit in accordance with specification requirements on each project.
  6. Schedule and complete punch list with Project Manager when the job is substantially complete. Follow up with Field Supervisor to make sure the punch list is finished.
  7. Assist PM with weekly project management documentation:
    1. Room Status report
    2. OIL (Outstanding Issues List)
    3. Weekly staff meeting agenda

Pre-Construction

  1. Estimate & take-off product using ISEC’s estimating application.
  2. Participate in estimating kick-off, pre-bid, follow-up, review and debriefing meetings.
  3. Complete Pre-bid pricing (vendor RFQS as well as in house pricing)
  4. Communicate and coordinate with business development throughout the bidding/estimating process to support the sales strategy.
  5. Manage material vendor and subs
  6. Read and reference architectural drawings to identify scope
  7. Support Purchasing Agent in buying out product/materials

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Currently enrolled in or graduated from a college or university

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Detail oriented
  • Solid computer skills(MS Office Suite)
  • Comfortable in a fast paced, team environment
  • Good organization, communication, and analytical skills
  • Highly motivated
