Senior Internal Auditor - Compliance

Position: Senior Internal Auditor
Classification: Exempt, Full-Time

Reports to: Compliance & Privacy Director

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

The Compliance Auditor is directly responsible for protecting company assets through regular auditing and will assess compliance with internal control measures and local, state, federal and company regulations. The Compliance Auditor will work with the Director of Compliance & Privacy to recommend improvements to the company’s infrastructure regarding internal control and oversee the work of various operational areas.

Primary Function

1. Adhere to quality, production, and customer service expectations.
2. Identify and resolve operational issues with improvements in the work process.
3. Assist in developing the annual audit work plan.
4. Conduct annual risk assessments.
5. Analyze operational practice, periodic reports, databases, records, and other forms of documentation to ensure compliance with established company and governmental regulations.
6. Document findings of tests and audits in reports and memos and distribute to relevant stakeholders upon completion.
7. Act as support for external auditing through careful coordination of data requirements.
8. Brief management on auditing findings and reports.
9. Facilitation and oversight of corrective action plans.
10. Report audit findings and results to key stakeholders and various committees.
11. Collaborate with management to improve internal control mechanisms as needed.
12. Accept ownership of new auditing initiatives and enhance the compliance department’s reputation and effectiveness.
13. Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will not have supervisory responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen.

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements

• 5+ years of auditing experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare, or similar subject matter
• Thorough understanding of healthcare rules and guidelines
• Aptitude for statistical analysis
• Excellent communication and analytical skills
• Detail-oriented multitasker
• Commitment to objectivity
• Highly proficient and effective researcher
