The LWCC Policyholder Services division is looking for a 2024 summer intern to help in the Underwriting division. The goal of the underwriting intern program is to provide our intern with an opportunity to see and experience workers’ compensation underwriting from new submissions and renewals to safety service visits, audits and the claims process. This position offers great experience for those in the insurance and risk management fields, as well as any students who would like general business experience.

 

We are flexible with starting and ending dates based on summer and school schedules however, students should be aware that our program dates will be from June to July of 2024. This is an in-office position.

 

Underwriting Interns will:

 

  • Learn about how and why LWCC was formed
  • Be introduced to the NCCI Basic Manual and LA Revised Statutes
  • Learn the ins and outs of an LWCC workers’ compensation policy
  • Get trained on endorsements
  • Learn how to price new submissions and renewals
  • Understand the importance of Safety Services and attend a Safety Visit
  • Spend a week with Premium Audit and ride along with a field auditor and possibly complete an audit
  •  Spend time with Claims learning the ins and outs of the claims process and how LWCC takes care of injured workers
  • Join in on all Policyholder Services and LWCC events
  • Assemble and share a presentation on what was learned during the internship
