Reporting to the Director of Talent and Culture, the Payroll & Benefits Generalist will support the department in its day-to-day activities, focusing on payroll & benefits processes (processing timecards, payroll processing, 401K changes, Worker’s Comp claims, FMLA claims, New Hire Benefit Enrollment & Benefit invoices.

main duties and responsibilities

  • Partner with Director of T&C on running semi-monthly payroll along with all audit functions, acting as a backup when needed
  • Ensure all timecards are accurately reflected and captured though payroll process
  • Lead all aspects of Benefit plan administration, including overseeing open enrollment and new hire enrollment and as a part of the onboarding process.
  • Act as a backup to Director T&C on the 401K plan administration, ensuring accurate entries on each payroll and addressing day to day employee queries.
  • Lead the processing of all benefit invoices on a timely basis; conduct quarterly audits to ensure invoices are paid accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Handle compliance reporting such as Vets 4212, EEO1, AAP, and others.
  • Collaborate with Talent & Culture team on employee engagement events.   
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Handle all verifications of employment requests and oversee the process from start to finish.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, Payroll and Benefits, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required, Masters preferred.
  • At least five years of human resource management experience required. 
  • Experience in payroll & benefits processing is required. 
  • SHRM-CP certification is a plus.

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software, with strong expertise in Excel.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS Ceridian Day Force and training system including Learn4U and Cornerstone.
