Airport Grounds Worker (Summer Seasonal)

Hourly Pay Range: $20.87

 

 

Job Summary:  On a seasonal basis, the Airport Grounds Worker performs maintenance to Airport grounds and properties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Operate motorized vehicles - Operate motorized vehicles, including pickup trucks with trailers, riding mowers, weed eaters and leaf blowers.
  • Mow and trim grass - Mow and trim grass on Airport grounds and outlying properties owned by the Airport.
  • Pick litter and sweep pavements.
  • Maintain flower beds - Maintain flower beds.  Plant, cultivate, pull weed and fertilize.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current WI Resident
  • High school diploma or G. E. D. equivalency is required.
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License required.
  • Grounds maintenance experience preferred.
  • Able to carry/lift, push/pull 60 lbs.
  • Background Check and ability to obtain an airport badge.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Contact with employees or others primarily at routine level involving basic information exchange.
  • Contact with peers and other involving explanation of information (these contacts may be within or outside department or division), and the gathering of information.  May include the communication of sensitive or confidential information.
  • Limited external contact: gather information, answer queries, or ask assistance.
  • Read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Read and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and procedures manuals.

 

This is a morning shift role -7.30 am to 3.30 pm Monday to Friday work time.

 

Note: This Original Examination is open to all qualified applicants authorized to work in the United States.  In accordance with Rule III section 11 of the Civil Service Rules a non-competitive examination will be held for this position. The non-competitive examination will consist of a review of candidate materials, education, and related experience.
