Administrative Secretary – Legislative Assistant 3
Department: County Board

Full-time, Salary

Salary: $37,044.80/yr

 

Seeking an organized problem solver who takes initiative and exercises good judgment for full-time professional position in support of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors, the legislative branch of County government. Delivers responsive constituent services and executes administrative responsibilities in a diverse workplace. Represents elected officials in their public office.

 

An eligible candidate must be highly organized and able to:

  • Prioritize work assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Balance assignments from multiple elected officials, including district and departmental projects.

 

A qualified candidate will be adept with technology and:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and cloud-based applications.
  • Familiar with customer relationship management (CRM) tools and digital marketing platforms.

 

A preferred candidate is a capable communicator who is committed to public service and has:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm for providing responsive and results-oriented constituent referrals.

 

Daily Responsibilities: Interact with the public, County officials, and community organizations in a professional and positive manner. Answer phones, respond to emails, and assist walk-in constituent concerns. Provide reception services at the front desk as primary or backup assignment. Manage constituent database in Salesforce, a CRM tool. Organize County schedules and public files for elected officials. Track Committee and County Board meetings. Research County legislation. Coordinate town halls and other district activities. Draft written communications on behalf of elected officials. Develop district mailings, both print and eNews. Various projects supporting the mission of the County.

 

Education, Experiences and Licenses

Education: High School Diploma and completion of at least one (1) year of education at an accredited post-secondary institution.

Experience: One (1) year or more of experience working in a professional office setting. Experience in project management or government experience preferred. Bilingual in English/Spanish with the ability to speak, write and read in both languages preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Driver’s license preferred. Must have access to reliable transportation to attend in person events or for in person work in the County Board office.

 

 

Note: This unclassified position is open to all qualified applicants authorized to work in the United States. The incumbent must establish residency in Wisconsin within six (6) months of appointment and maintain such residency throughout their incumbency.

 

Note: The pay range for this job will be changed to $42,120.00 in January 2024.
