Public Relations Manager

Full-time, Salary

Salary Range: $68,307.20 - $81,556.80/yr

 

Job Summary

The Public Relations (PR) Manager will serve as an advisor and consultant to the Superintendent on both internal and external communications. This position will oversee the development of effective implementation, tracking, evaluation and necessary revision of an integrated communications plan. The PR Manager will proactively build and maintain media relationships. These media relationships include but are not limited to mediums such as print, online, radio and TV. The major objective is to promote the Community Reintegration Center (CRC) in a positive light by assessing public image, creating press releases, creating talking points, reviewing marketing materials, participating in and promoting hiring events, and responding to public events and inquiries. The position exists to implement public relations policies and also serve as the gatekeeper of media inquiries, in addition to acting as the CRC spokesperson when appropriate.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Press and Media Relations – Be the point person and gatekeeper for all inquiries from media outlets. Works with media from initial contact to conclusion. Cultivates and fosters relationships with media. Determines appropriate spokesperson and acts as spokesperson when appropriate.
  • Develop and Write Content - Develops and writes content that includes, but is not limited to news releases, media alerts, media statements, promotional pieces related to programming and information brochures, the CRC’s web site, informational talking points, monthly employee newsletter and CRC’s annual report.
  • Promotion of Events and Programs - Promotes all public special events. Events and programs occur throughout the year and require support through media relations, website content and written promotional materials.
  • Create and Manage Social Media Platforms - Develops and manages brand’s social media identity. Creates written and visual content across several media platforms to include pertinent information on hiring events, programming and current events. Engage and respond to public comments when appropriate.
  • General Coordination of Public Relations Efforts - Coordinates non-media, on-grounds photo shoots, videotaping and other commercial video projects. Works with staff to develop effective print, promotional materials, and collaborates with staff to produce informational materials.
  • Story Pitching - Proactively seeks opportunities to share positive messages, success stories, or unique collaborations to keep the community, potential funders, future partners, families, or elected officials informed of the work being done at the CRC.
  • Oversee and modify as needed the CRC website. Ensure that the CRC website displays the most recent and accurate data and calendar of events for the benefit of our community partners and the general public.
  • Promote through media sources as well as existing CRC pathways, all hiring events for CRC staff.
  • Ability to push, pull, carry and lift up to 5 lbs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Education, License/Certification and Experience

  • Current residency within the State of Wisconsin required
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License required and must be maintained throughout employment
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Communications, Journalism, Public Administration or closely related field required
  • Five (5) years or more of work experience in Media Relations, Public Relations, Journalism or Professional Writing required
  • Some work experience in a Supervisory or Management role required
  • Intermediate knowledge of all related computer and software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams required
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills required
  • Previous experience to act as a spokesperson preferred
