Basic Function:  The supervision and direction of the St. Paul's Senior Homes & Services Maintenance, Housekeeping, Security and Transportation departments.  This will typically be through subordinate supervisors for each of the stated areas of responsibility.  Although reporting to the C00, position has a strong support responsibility to all facility administrators and the CEO for all construction projects

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

The Director of Facilities is responsible for  providing the most effective facilities services for the health and welfare of our residents.  This is to be accomplished through good management practices, technical and business knowledge, related experience and a well-qualified, well-trained, competent staff.  Quality is a requirement in all areas.

 

Ability to apply technical knowledge and skills to maintain or improve all facilities belonging to St. Paul's.  All trades and skills common to the facilities management are to be successfully applied and utilized.

 

Responsible for the overall management and control of all utilities and related services contracted for and utilized by St. Paul's Senior Homes & Services.  This includes, but may not be limited to, electricity, water, natural gas, elevator maintenance, HVAC preventative and corrective maintenance, telecommunications, video cable, fire safety, security services, landscaping, etc.

 

Personal skills and temperament to function as a part of an active management team.  Must relate that the goal is the improvement for the benefit of the overall organization.  Must enjoy working with the elderly.

 

Proficient with building and construction drawings and specifications.  Able to read and apply building codes specifications and regulations, with emphasis on Title 22 health care code.  Must be current with all applicable Federal, State and local codes governing our facilities and operations.  Works closely with facility administrators in understanding, interpreting and applying all applicable regulations dealing with facility management and facility safety.

 

Will represent organization on appropriate committees and will be required on occasion to make presentations to the Board of Directors and other appropriate groups.  Will represent St. Paul's in the community as an active member of relevant organizations and professional groups.

 

Active member of the Safety Officers Committee and assists organization in all aspects of safety and health orientations, training and education.  Coordinates all OSHA compliance, facility related Injury/Illness Prevention Plan implementation and activity, and MSDS programs.

 

Interacts with and participates in any compliance, consultative, or engineering personnel during their inspections of any job site and documents results.  Assist in the resolution of any citation or criticism issued or required.

 

Minimum Qualifications, education and experience:

 

High School graduate required, B.S. in Civil Engineering or have attended a Maritime Chief Engineer’s Course, related field or equivalent experience essential.

 

A minimum of five years experience in Facilities Management, the building trades or construction industry is required.  Preferred experience to include the healthcare industry, housekeeping responsibility and safety plans and programs.  Proven experience in a management role over multiple sub-ordinate groups is essential.

 

Must have strong computer skills.  Able to assist and develop staff in the technical and computer skills essential to the area of responsibility and the business need of St. Paul's.
