Northeast Kingdom Human Services (NKHS) is a 501(c)(3) private not-for-profit organization operating with the purpose of promoting a high quality, comprehensive community mental health program in Vermont’s beautiful Northeast Kingdom. The Director of Development at Northeast Kingdom Human Services (NKHS) will play a pivotal role in advancing the organization's mission and ensuring its sustainability. Collaborating closely with the Director of Communications and Executive Director, the Director of Development will lead strategic fundraising initiatives, set financial goals, actively participate in and lead grant writing projects and cultivate relationships with potential donors. This position requires a dynamic individual with a proven track record in fundraising, excellent communication skills, and a strong set of values related to community and public health that aligns with the mission and vision of NKHS by promoting mental health and well-being in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.

Our mission is to empower individuals, families, and communities by promoting hope, healing, and support.  NKHS is a Designated Agency contracted with the State of Vermont to provide the highest quality of service in the areas of adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities, children and youth with serious emotional disabilities, and adults with mental health and substance use challenges.  We serve the populations of Caledonia, Essex, and Orleans counties through a wide variety of targeted programs for individuals of all ages. NKHS has over 450 employees providing case management, community and home supports, residential care, psychiatry, medication management, therapy, vocational supports, school based counseling, emergency care, and respite services. RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE

  • Lead strategic fundraising initiatives. Plan and execute fundraising events that effectively communicate the organization's mission and goals. Maintain accurate records of receipts and disbursements.
  • Set financial goals and budgets in line with short- and long-term organizational objectives.
  • Cultivate relationships with potential donors. Identify and maintain a comprehensive list of potential financial donors and produce compelling fundraising literature to engage previous donors and the wider community in supporting NKHS.
  • Actively participate in and lead grant writing projects. Conduct research to identify potential sources of grants and public funding. Prepare and submit grant applications, ensuring compliance with guidelines and deadlines.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Finance, Accounting, or similar field required.
  • Five years of experience in fundraising for a nonprofit organization highly preferred.

 

SALARY & BENEFITS

  • Competitive Salary starting at $80,000+ based on experience.
