Parker Poe is seeking a Legal Professional Assistant (LPA) for our Columbia office to provide administrative support and project assistance to attorneys. 

 

For more than a century, Parker Poe has represented many of the Southeast’s largest companies and local governments in transactions, regulatory issues, and complex litigation.  Please join us as we continue to grow.   

The LPA will work a regular schedule.  The typical schedule will consist of 7.5 hours per day equating to 37.5 hours per week. Additional hours (including overtime) will be required on occasion.  Flexible work arrangements may be available after an initial period of employment.

 

Primary responsibilities include preparing and revising legal documents, contracts and correspondence, calendaring deadlines, and filing/recording legal documents and financing statements.  It is anticipated that a portion of the time spent on these activities will be billable.

 

Administrative duties include, but are not limited to, scheduling appointments, making travel reservations, maintaining attorney calendars, managing contact information, new client intake, maintaining files in the electronic records management system, scheduling travel, and other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience using a legal time and billing system preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with electronic work flow systems preferred but not required
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Motivated, self-directed individual with ability to anticipate and resolve issues
  • Ability to prioritize work projects and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be a team player, willing to meaningfully collaborate with others

Preferred experience: 3 years as a paralegal, legal secretary or as an administrative assistant in a law firm or legal department, ideally in a transactional setting, and an Associate’s degree, or the equivalent combination of experience and education.
