The Trademark Paralegal will support the Intellectual Property practice group.  This is a nonexempt administrative position that reports to the Raleigh Office Administrator and assigned attorneys.  There are no direct reports to this position.

 

The Paralegal will work a regular schedule as determined by the Office Administrator and/or assigned attorneys.  The typical schedule will consist of 7.5 hours per day equating to 37.5 hours per week. Additional hours (including overtime) will be required as needed.

 

This position is available in Charlotte, NC, Raleigh, NC or Greenville, SC.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage trademark filings worldwide

• Prepare trademark applications and monitor their status

• Prepare drafts of correspondence and documents responding to clients and trademark agencies and offices relating to trademark application and registration filings

• Update docket of trademark-related deadlines

• Maintain a docket of active trademarks and trademark-related disputes

• Monitor trademark infringement matters, including some litigation support

• Maintain accurate and current client information

 • Record changes to the chain of title and security interests involving trademarks

 

Requirements

• 3+ years of trademark/intellectual property experience and a paralegal certificate, or the equivalent combination of education and experience;  Bachelor’s degree preferred.  

• Experience with preparation and prosecution of trademark applications and maintenance required

• Experience with trademark docketing software for U.S. and foreign applications and registrations  and Trademark Trial and Appeal Board proceedings required.  Proficiency with Web TMS preferred.

• Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities and accommodate rush requests

• Ability to perform detail-oriented tasks with accuracy

• Self-starter who can work independently with limited supervision.

• Must be a team player, willing to help other team members during peak times

• Superior computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and database experience

• Experience with docketing software and electronic file management systems required.

• Outstanding verbal communication and writing skills
