As a Salvage Technician, you will prep vehicles for the crusher which includes fluids being drained, tires deflated, airbags removed, battery removed, and EV/Hybrid battery removed. Salable parts are removed per the work order. This may include doors, hoods, decklids, bumpers, interiors, and drivetrains. Some vehicles receive a body cut. Removed parts are tagged and palleted in accordance with the work orders.
 

Salvage Technician Responsibilities Include:

  • Properly conduct scrap process on vehicles per work order.
  • Conduct the salvage process for each vehicle per work order.
  • Properly break down tires and wheels when needed.
  • Operate equipment including saws, drills, grinders, sanders, buffers, plasma cutters, power tools, impact guns, MIF and TIG welder/torches and hand tools to take apart vehicles.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Adhere to Suburban Automotive Service’s DRIVEN values and align business practices to support the SAS mission and vision.

Salvage Technician Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be customer service oriented.
  • Must have exceptional time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Must be a self-starter.
  • Must be a reliable team player.
  • Must have verifiable mechanical skills, related field experience, and management experience.
  • Understanding of fabrication including welding and metal working tools operation.
  • Able to identify parts and vehicle components with a detailed understanding of vehicle systems and the ability to diagnose system failures.
  • Knowledge of customer reporting requirements, based on vehicle or project.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook applications preferred.

Salvage Technician Working Conditions and Physical Demands Include:

  • 50% of the time in this position you will be sitting while working.
  • 50% of the time in this position you will be walking and standing while working.
  • Must be able to lift over 50 lbs., work overhead, kneel, squat, or work from compromising positions for short periods of time.
