Information Technology - Senior AV Event Technology Engineer
Position Summary
To provide leadership, technical oversight and live event support for executive meetings and other events hosted at the University. To coordinate AV requirements, services and support involved in the planning, setup and running of events for the university. The position works closely with AV event staff, AV staff, IT leadership and construction teams to help design AV systems and plan infrastructure changes to meet the audio-visual requirements of the Sacred Heart community.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide live event support and oversight for major university functions.
- Supervise the set-up, running, and break down of events, including transport, set up, and re-pack of video, sound, and electronic equipment, in various locations; identify and resolve problems.
- Collaborate with AV project manager to oversee the design and installation of AV systems as part of new construction and renovation.
- Clean, maintain, and update live event equipment, including software and batteries.
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment and technical problems.
- Design, install and program audio-visual systems that will be deployed throughout the University’s academic and event spaces. Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs of AV systems throughout all university spaces.
- Design and prepare floor plans, riser diagrams, schedules, specification details for infrastructure cabling and physical security solutions for AV assets.
- Research and recommend multimedia systems to meet university expectations.
- Responsible for the maintenance and support of management software and tools to provide monitoring and control of equipment deployed throughout the campus.
- Research faculty and student requests for resources and make recommendations on equipment use.
- Provide technical training for the community on equipment usage. Recommend and implement policies for the best practice use of audio-visual equipment.
- Perform site surveys to capture client requirements and develop documentation of new or existing systems and building conditions.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, clients, and internal IT teams to deliver and support AV systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other Attributes
- Bachelor’s degree in technical field required.
- Crestron/Extron/Q-SYS programming experience.
- CTS certification preferred.
- Supervisory experience.
- Two years’ experience supporting large event audio systems.
- Computer proficiency with MS office, Windows operating systems, Mac OS10+, email, and project management software.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Mature sense of responsibility and judgment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with a diverse community.
- Audio visual and /or media related certifications beneficial.
Unusual Working Conditions
Working after hours and over the weekend to complete assigned tasks is required. The job requires a mix of office and on-location work setting up equipment, and it may require the engineer to comfortably lift 50 pounds or more routinely. Employee is required to have a university cell phone and respond to last minute requests for support.
