The ancestors of the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation existed many centuries ago as a community of people…a Tribe living together, farming, hunting and fishing to survive.

Job Purpose:

Provides security services to Sycuan Market guests and personnel and coordinates vehicular and pedestrian traffic flow.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

(Note: Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at the sole discretion of Sycuan Management at any time)

1. Provides guest service by assisting internal and external guests with questions and directions, responding to medical aides, contacting additional resources as needed, and documenting medical incidents.

2. Maintains adherence to specified safety and access policies by identifying security and safety risks, reporting risks, discouraging panhandling, loitering and sleeping on property.

3. Maintains security of parking lots and exterior property by patrolling parking lots, reporting suspicious activity to Tribal Police personnel, and providing a written account of security related activities.

4. Provides written account of security-related activities by documenting incidents in and around Market, and preparing reports on criminal activities for law enforcement agencies.

5. Ensures smooth flow of vehicular traffic in and around parking lots by directing traffic to appropriate parking or holding areas, coordinating special event traffic on and off premises, providing jump-starts, and authorizing towing/removal of vehicles parked in violation of parking policy.

6.  Monitors inventory to identify and prevent theft and shortages by investigating suspicious customer and or employee activity.

Job Specifications:

Education and Experience:

Essential:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Guest service experience

Desirable:

• Civilian traffic control certificate
• Experience planning and directing traffic flow

Skills and Knowledge:

Essential:

• Basic knowledge of security and patrol procedures
• Ability to evaluate unusual situations and make sound judgments
• Ability to appear for work on time
• Ability to effectively communicate with guests and team members
• Ability to communicate effectively in the English language
• Ability to compose written documents in the English language
• Ability to maintain professionalism and composure
• Ability to understand and follow verbal directives and written directions
• Ability to accept constructive criticism
• Ability to walk and stand for up to eight hours at a time
• Ability to bend and stoop
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs

Desirable:

• Knowledge of California Penal Code
• Working knowledge of directing traffic flow
• Multi-lingual
