Job Summary

The Shift Leader coordinates and supervises the program and staff of an assigned unit (i.e. T-Suites) within the residential program at the Cleveland Christian Home. Serves as a leader on assigned shift. Responsible for providing direction and coaching of other residential staff during assigned shift. Responsible for ensuring available coverage for assigned shift. Serves as liaison between Care Coordinator and other community agencies, ensuring children are connected to appropriate resources.

Job Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree;
  •  A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a residential/group home setting and
  • A minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience; and/or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Ohio Driver's License, appropriate driving record and appropriate insurance License, Ohio Driver’s all times (as required by agency policy and/or insurance carriers)
  • Successful completion of all required pre-hire tests and proof of current TB test upon hire.

 Essential Functions, Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and supervises the personnel and the program of an assigned residential treatment unit including:
    • Providing care, support, attention and a positive, therapeutic atmosphere to all children in the assigned unit
    •  Maintaining consistent, firm and fair relationships with all children
    • Serving as an appropriate, positive role-model.
    • Ensuing the management of the physical needs of the children including health, hygiene, and physical comfort (food/clothing/shelter)
  •  Provides physical and emotional security for the children through intervention, correction and re-direction of negative behavior
  • Ensures the whereabouts and activities of each assigned child at all times while on duty
  • Coordinates the use of facilities and resources to provide structured group and support services to assigned clients
  •  Implements goal-directed groups addressing, but not limited to:
    • Practical living skills
    • Social skills
    • Problem-solving skills
    • Anger-management and conflict resolution
    • Self-esteem building
  • Prepares formal and informal reports on assigned children or program issues, as required
  • Leads in the planning, supervision and provision of therapeutic and recreational activities.
  • Transports children as necessary including, but not limited to medical appointments, activities, school
  • Maintains current inventory and/or awareness of all supplies, equipment and furnishings
  • Ensures effective coordination and exchange of information with staff and other provider/network agency programs
  • Responds to crisis situations throughout agency including residents, staff and/or visitors
  • Serves as on-site leader in the agency during non-traditional business hours or as assigned
  • Consults regularly with Residential Manager regarding client care issues, policies, procedures, goals, philosophy, regulatory standards and requirements, etc.
  • Assists with interviewing candidates for positions when necessary
  • Ensures that employees receive orientation; trains employees in job duties, provides individual and/or group supervision regularly
  • Monitors the work of employees and ensures compliance with policies and procedures; recommends and administers disciplinary action as necessary
  • Ensures appropriate staff coverage through scheduling, assigning replacements or filling-in as necessary
  • Assists with evaluating employee performance
