Thayer Power & Communication Line Construction Co., LLC is currently seeking a Field Technician II to join our growing team. Your specific duties in this role will include:
Position Summary:
 
At the direction of the Project Manager, the Field Technician II will perform field and aerial (utility pole attachments) data collection for new wireline utility placement. The ability to identify existing power, CATV, telephone, fiber-optic facilities, and their industry knowledge is key to effectively performing in this role. This position will require the employee to work alone as a one-person survey crew, except for where safety would require additional crew members. Required field duties may include entry into telecommunication manholes, pole, and field data collection within customer premises. Work shall be performed in all weather conditions that will not jeopardize employee safety. The Field Technician II will be responsible for maintaining a record of field data collection and shall upload data files daily to the server for the CAD Manager and/or Project Manager.
 
Position Requirements:
 
Ability to research federal, state, and local road right of way information.
Experience with visually identifying, inspecting, and collecting data for telecommunication or power equipment and poles.
Resolving issues that arise in the field while collecting data.
Ability to work with minimal supervision, multi-task, and adhere to firm time constraints.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work as one-person survey crew.
Ability to perform field walks with potential to carry up to 40lbs of equipment.
Use of Hastings and Osmose C.V.T. (Calibrated Visual Targets) Sticks for pole attachment height measurements.
Familiarity with County GIS and state plane coordinate data systems.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook and Teams.
Ability to research titles, deeds, and easements with County Recorder’s offices.
Strong attention to detail to ensure drawings are accurate according to specifications.
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience required.
Valid driver’s license and capacity to pass D.O.T. physical for operation of a passenger vehicle.
Must pass pre-employment drug screening.

Carlson - Surveyor2 data collector, SurvCE6
StoneX GNSS Receiver
TopCon FC-2500 data collector, GPT-9000A/900A ROBOTIC TOTAL STATION, TopSURV7
Google Earth
