Angel Tree Coordinator (Houston Temple Corps)

The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for an Angel Tree Coordinator for the Houston Temple Corps, located in Houston, Texas.

Job Summary

Manages the Angel Tree Program; recruits, trains, coordinates the work of volunteers ensuring sample staff to meet Christmas program needs; prepares records and reports for the Christmas program.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of general office practices and procedures. Knowledge of effective and efficient record keeping.

Knowledge of the English language. Ability to maintain an efficient and organized filing system to ensure that items can be retrieved in a timely manner. Ability to answer the telephone in a courteous and tactful manner. Ability to maintain the confidential nature of the work. Ability to follow instructions, plan and organize work, and work under limited supervision.

Education and Experience

High School diploma or G.E.D. and Two years’ experience working in an office environment Or Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Certifications: Valid driver’s license

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.

Ability to sort and file documents alphabetically and numerically. Ability to operate various general office equipment including a telephone, typewriter, and computer. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail with constant breaks in concentration associated with answering phones or speaking in person to clients requiring assistance. Ability to perform all duties with an understanding of the mission, ministry, philosophy, culture, and protocol of The Salvation Army and conducts all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism. Duties are usually performed seated; however, work at the Christmas Distribution Center will require walking, standing, lifting and carrying. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time. Working Conditions: Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Work may require driving a vehicle where there may be discomforts associated with heavy traffic or changes in weather.
