Day Camp Counselor
The Salvation Army; an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has job opening for a full-time, temporary Summer Day Camp Worker for the Metro Atlanta Area Kroc Center, located in Atlanta Georgia.
Leads children activities at a day camp including classroom training, tutoring, sports activities, bible study, computer programs and specialized programs; prepares and serves children lunch and snacks; assists in leading field trips; maintains the cleanliness of the camp area.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledge of the principles and practices of Child Behavior and Development. Knowledge of the principles and practices of First Aid and C.P.R and ability to ensure the safety of children; Ability to teach children Christian values as well as general childhood education curriculum; Ability to plan, develop, and implement effective childhood programs and activities; Ability to observe children and ensure their safety. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or G.E.D.; Two (2) years’ experience teaching child development programs in a church, any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Skills and abilities.
Valid State Driver's License; C.P.R. and First Aid Certification
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Duties are performed a Camp and Classroom setting. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting ad carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.
