Resident Monitor Veterans Unit
The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Residential Monitor position for the Birmingham Command Veteran's Unit located in Birmingham, AL. working full-time shift. Starting pay-rate $12.59 per hour. Monday-Friday 7AM to 3PM.
Job Summary: Accepts and processes residents staying in the housing unit/shelter; monitors the activity of residents on an assigned shift ensuring safety, security and compliance to house rules; maintains accurate and complete records and logs containing pertinent information; ensures that lodge/shelter is maintained in a neat and proper order. Provides transportation in Van for Veterans to their early morning and daily appointments.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities of general office procedures and practices. Knowledge of basic recordkeeping practices and procedures. Ability to work with the public encompassing all types of behaviors. Ability to work independently and with limited supervision while enforcing established policies and procedures.
Education and Experience school diploma or G.E.D. and one experience performing security or social service work preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Valid Driver's license required.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to respond to emergency situations quickly and calmly while maintaining control and initiating corrective action. Ability to perform combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis. of travel is usually within the same building. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time. Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
Work is performed in a lodge/shelter facility where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
