About this opportunity:

Plans, supervises, directs, monitors and evaluates all public relations and community relations functions for the Corps which include: Donor Services, Public Relations, Community and Corporate Relations; ensures that The Salvation Army maintains a favorable and positive image in the community; serves as liaison to media ensuring the desired message is communicated; takes photographs and writes articles covering The Salvation Army events in Corps; participates in coordinating, promoting and executing special events; recruits volunteers and coordinates volunteer activities; performs public speaking to promote awareness and support for The Salvation Army programs.

  • Social Media and Website Responsibilities (20%)
  • Event Coordination Responsibilities (20%)
  • Volunteer Coordination Responsibilities (10%)
  • Liaison Responsibilities (10%)

 

What we are looking for in you:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university public relations, marketing, business administration, or related field and Three years’ experience coordinating public relations, special events, and/or media relations, Or Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

 

  • Valid State Drivers License

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

 

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write and communicate the English language effectively. Ability to speak before large groups in person, by radio and television. Ability to travel to various locations in order to participate in public meetings, conferences, etc. Ability and willingness to conduct all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism. Duties are usually performed seated.  Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) frequently. Work is usually performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like, but not limited to the office environment.
