The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a full-time Mobile Outreach Services Coordinator, managed by the Augusta Area Command, located in Augusta, GA.

 

Job Summary:

Plans, promotes, and coordinates mobile outreach services; operates and ensures proper maintenance of the Salvation Army mobile outreach vehicles including mobile shower units and canteens. Strategically schedules, hosts, and participates in mobile outreach events to provide the most conducive and positive impact for supporting programs. Ensures sufficient supplies for respective mobile outreach units and events. Arranges for cleaning and proper sanitation of mobile units and supplies. Prepares and maintains logs, reports, and data for events, volunteers, vehicle maintenance and use, and other necessary information.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

Knowledge of The Salvation Army social service programs; Knowledge of the principles and practices particular to the department's administration; Knowledge of general office principles, practices, and procedures; Knowledge of the principles and practices of social services and/or emergency management; Ability to work on multiple projects effectively and efficiently; Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing; Ability to work independently and with limited supervision; Ability to demonstrative knowledge of all administrative policies and procedures; Ability to compile and report statistical information with accuracy; Ability to maintain an efficient and organized filing system to ensure that items can be retrieved in a timely manner; Ability to follow instructions and work with limited supervision; Ability to prepare accurate and complete record, logs, and reports; Ability to represent The Salvation Army in a professional and Christian-like manner; Ability to build positive working relationships with volunteers; Ability to read and interpret maps and use GPS guidance units/devices; Ability to operate a Canteen, and/or Salvation Army Vehicle towing a trailer, in addition to ability to operate a mobile shower and laundry unit; Ability to operate a propane tank and generator; Ability to stand for long periods of time; Ability to operate in outside work environments; Ability and willingness to conduct all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism; Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships in the community and specifically with contacts at participating agencies; Ability to travel to various locations in order to participate in outreach and other related events; Ability to lead, motivate, and evaluate the work of volunteers; Ability to meet attendance requirements; Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language; Ability to drive to various outreach program sites throughout the assigned territory.

Education and Experience: 

Two years of college coursework from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or a related field, with one year experience working in a social or public service environment with experience assisting the public, and at least one year experience towing a trailer, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications

 

Valid Driver’s License; Meet legal age and driving requirement for operating mobile outreach vehicles.

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to drive a canteen truck in compliance with local and state regulations. Physical ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 pounds. Employees in this position must meet all DOT requirements for vehicles associated with this position. Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis. Working Conditions: Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Work requires travel throughout the division in order to attend events and provide services where there may be physical discomforts associated with driving a vehicle and changes in the weather.
