The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Truck Helper position for the Family Store located in Lafayette, LA.

Job Summary: Assists in picking-up donations by riding in a Salvation Army truck and lifting, carrying, and/or hauling donations into the truck and unloading the same at the warehouse; assists in navigating for the Truck Driver; ensures the accountability, security, and safety of the donations when in route; assists in maintaining the vehicle in proper working order and in compliance with established standards.
 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledgeof the assigned geographic area.Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with co-workers.Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with co-workers.
 

 

Education and Experience: High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred but not required,andsix months experience lifting and hauling heavy items such as appliances and furniture,orany equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
 

 

Licenses and Certifications: None.
 

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Work requires riding in a vehicle daily with exposure to the outdoors where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
