Job Summary:

 

Assists in facilitating and monitoring assigned recreational activities of the Community Center programs; supports a community center, assisting with day-to-day programs. Provides homework tutoring; assists outreach specialist and case manager with transporting patrons to and from the Community Center programs &events; helps maintain facilities, equipment, and grounds.

 

 

Education and Experience Required:

 

High school diploma or G.E.D. and six months experience coaching and supervising athletic events and experience maintaining grounds, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

Certifications/Licenses:

Valid State Drivers' License

 

Materials and Equipment:

General Office Equipment      Recreational Equipment

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of the Program Aide job descriptions and ability to implement same.

 

Knowledge of organized group games' standard rules and techniques, such as basketball, kickball, soccer, or football.

 

Knowledge of accepted and safe first aid procedures.

 

Ability to build effective and positive relationships with people of all ages. Ability to lead and motivate people participating in recreational activities.

Employees in this position must always meet all DOT requirements for vehicles associated with this position.

 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Must be able to work all hours assigned, including but not limited to After School programs, School Fall, Spring, and summer breaks, and stormy weather days.

 

Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.

 

Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.

 

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor recreational environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
