Position Type: Regular Full-Time,                

Pay Range: $12.00 Per Hour

About this opportunity:

 

  • Operates the pantry/distribution area of the Social Services/Crisis Management Department on assigned days. Assesses client needs and maintains records and reports of services provided. Drives a Salvation Army vehicle to pick up and transport donated goods on assigned days.

Key responsibilities:

Driver duties on assigned days:

  • Serve as a driver of a box truck and/or pick up truck to obtain food donations and/or deliver food.

 

  • Willing to travel in the local area (Duval, Nassau, Clay and St. John’s Counties) as needed.

 

 

  • Picks up donated items from stores on scheduled days.

 

  • Picks-up and delivers miscellaneous items as needed.

 

 

  • May provide transportation to and from special events.

 

  • Drives carefully and observes/complies with all traffic signs and road/weather conditions to ensure the safety of passengers.

 

 

  • Parks vehicle in a safe and clearly marked parking space.

 

  • Locks vehicle doors when vehicle is not in use.

 

 

  • Fuels vehicle in accordance with state gasoline regulations and The Salvation Army standards.
  • Logs all mileage on standard forms; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.

 

  • Arrives at destination according to schedule or telephones ahead when severe delays occur.

 

 

  • Provides assistance at special events throughout the Holiday season as assigned.

 

Food Pantry/Warehouse duties on assigned days:

  • Reads, understands, and follows Social Services policies pertaining to the pantry services and areas of client confidentiality.

 

  • Helps load and unload all pantry deliveries.

 

 

  • Stocks and supplies pantry shelves.

 

  • Checks all food in pantry for damage or spoilage; discards any opened or outdated foods according to supervisor’s instructions.

 

  • Checks work area weekly for rodent damage and/or infestation and reports results of the inspection to supervisor.

 

 

  • Assembles food orders.

 

  • Prepares and distributes food bags according to vouchers.

 

 

  • Carries grocery orders to client’s vehicle for clients who are unable to carry the orders by themselves.

 

  • Keeps pantry office and storage areas clean.

 

 

  • Maintains accurate client files.

 

  • Records in the pantry log all vouchers that have been processed and file those vouchers in the clients’ files.
  • Assists with off-site pick-up of food donations.

 

  • Records all donations.

 

 

  • Ensures that pantry area is secure at all times.

 

  • Removes trash from pantry at the end of each day.

 

What we are looking for in you:

  • High School diploma or equivalent,
  • Two years experience operating an automotive vehicle,

 

  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

  • Approved background check report required.

 

  • Valid State Driver’s License (requirement)

 

  • Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) approval by The Salvation Army Required.

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Bending, lifting, and ability to lift up to 50 lbs on daily basis.

 

  • Work performed in normal office environment and /or outside and work involves driving a vehicle where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in the weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat, or discomforts associated with long trips or heavy traffic.
