Position Type: Regular Full-Time

About this opportunity:

Performs a variety of skilled maintenance and preventative work for buildings and grounds including heating, ventilation, electrical, and air conditioning work as well as day-to-day routine maintenance and repairs.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Facilities Maintenance Responsibilities (95%)
  • Administrative Responsibilities (5%)

What we are looking for in you:

 

  • High school diploma or G.E.D., with two years course work from a technical or vocational school in the major trades including construction, HVAC, plumbing, or electrical preferred, and Three to five years experience in the construction industry performing skilled work in one of the major trades, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or carpentry, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

  • Universal HVAC Certification
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Valid State Driver License (Required)

 

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

 

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively. Ability to drive vehicles in a safe manner.  Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects. Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing. Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army. Ability to work independently and with limited supervision. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with Salvation Army officers, employees, and the community. Ability to exert the physical energy required to performing maintenance work. Extensive amount of physical effort required associated with lifting, moving, and carrying heavy objects (more than 50 lbs.) frequently. Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environment with exposure to changes in temperatures, dirt and dust, and/or disagreeable sights and odors.  Work requires driving a vehicle and working outdoors daily with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
