The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for a full-time Property Manager for the Southern Territory, Memphis Area Command, Purdue Center of Hope, located in Memphis, Tennessee.

 

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, the Property Manager plans, schedules, supervises, monitors, (80% of time) and participates in the day-to-day general maintenance and repairs (20% of the time – emergencies only) of all Purdue Center of Hope and Purdue Corps campuses, quarters, vehicles, grounds, and equipment. Ensures the security of each campus and staff members.

 

The Property Manager will also ensure all equipment remains in proper working order and in compliance with operating procedures and safety standards. The Property Manager will participate in major and minor repairs to the properties of Memphis Purdue Center of Hope and Purdue Corps according to The Salvation Army procedures and policy. The Property Manager will operate a Salvation Army vehicle to pick-up and/or deliver materials related to property duties and will maintain an inventory of all the properties of Purdue Center of Hope and Purdue Corps. The position will manage a departmental budget and assists on building projects as needed.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Good decision-making skills and supervisory skills are needed to ensure that tasks and responsibilities are carried out with little daily supervision.

Ability to coordinate tasks to accomplish maintenance and repairs in compliance with quality standards and deadlines.

Ability to negotiate, supervise, and monitor contract maintenance services.

Knowledge of the methods, materials, tool, and practices used in building, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical trades.

Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, construction, and air conditioning equipment.

Skill in the care and use of tools and equipment used in the trades involved.

Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trades involved.

Ability to ensure the proper maintenance, repair, and security of buildings and grounds.

Ability to prepare and administer a departmental budget.

Ability to supervise, prioritize, motivate, monitor, and evaluate the work of subordinate maintenance employees.

Knowledge of basic mathematics.

Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office software.

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.

 

Education and Experience

High school diploma or G.E.D. required

Expertise in Electrical, Plumbing and HVAC required

And

Five years of progressively responsible experience performing skilled maintenance and repair work for commercial buildings and grounds with at least two years in a supervisory capacity preferred,

Or

Any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

 

Certifications:

Valid Driver’s License

 

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

Ability to speak and read the English language.

Ability to perform advanced construction skills required to repair and maintain the various facilities owned by The Salvation Army. (Counts as part of the 20% hands on duties)

Ability to operate various equipment necessary to complete building projects, repairs and maintenance. (Counts as part of the 20% hands on duties)

Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects. (Counts as part of the 20% hands on duties)

Travel is usually between Area Command Facilities and the Corps properties.

Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull moderately heavy (50-100 lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment frequently. Heavy mobility; duties are usually performed by combinations of standing, walking, climbing ladders or steps, bending, reaching or transporting merchandise on frequent change basis relieved by fewer periods of sitting or operating a vehicle.

Work is performed in various environments where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
