What is the opportunity?

The Marketing Manager conducts strategic marketing analysis and plans campaigns initiated by the Marketing and Communication (MarCom) department. This role uses research to identify opportunities to grow revenue, increase the ministry’s brand awareness, cultivate existing donors, and expand new donor acquisition. The role will build marketing plans, translate them into project plans, and provide both high-level and detailed reporting on progress and performance. The Marketing Manager position will report to the Marketing Director and can be based remotely or at Water Mission headquarters in Charleston, SC. 

 

 A successful Marketing Manager will: 

General Duties 

  • Maintain a strong Christian witness and model servant leadership to colleagues, partners, the communities we serve, and the public. 
  • Engage and participate in prayer before and after team meetings. 
  • Lead and participate in biblically based staff devotions. 
  • Maintain high-level knowledge of Water Mission’s organizational objectives, programmatic strategies, projects, and activities. Stay informed of local, regional, national, and global news and issues to support the organization effectively. 
  • Effectively communicate the mission and scope of Water Mission to various audiences. 
  • Ensure project files are stored appropriately on SharePoint, set up project plans in Smartsheet, and use other systems per MarCom guidelines. 
  • Collaborate with colleagues to establish key metrics at the outset of a campaign and assess ROI performance at the conclusion. 
  • Propose standardized project reporting for maintenance and review by the Marketing team and other MarCom teams. 

 

Market Analysis  

  • Collect and interpret research about the ministry’s partnerstheir giving habits, and the donor cycle, in collaboration with the ministry’s IT and Partnership Services team. 
  • Identify and develop communication for new audiences. Establish simplified and targeted messaging based on audience segmentation. 
  • Research and recommend campaign strategies and target audiences to expand Water Mission’s donor base. Coordinate market research tidentify opportunities for growth. 
  • Work closely with teammates from Content, Creative, and PR, managers, and senior leaders to develop and win support for best-in-class marketing and communications strategies that promote the Water Mission brand and increase awareness about the global water crisis. 
  • Develop alternative methods of analyzing marketing performance and opportunities for new advertising approaches and techniques for generating quality donor leads. 
  • Champion the increased use of data and analytics to inform marketing strategy. 
  • Maintain records of trademarks and update copyright policy as needed; investigate unauthorized uses of the brand and work with attorneys when violations of patent, copyright, or trademark laws occur. 

 

Strategic Marketing 

  • Manage the successful, accurate, and timely execution of projects, including marketing collateral, impact reports, opportunity profiles, appeals, presentations, videos, web pages, digital campaigns, and more. 
  • Work with the Marketing Director to develop and manage acquisition projects. 
  • Manage the ministry’s community of recurring givers and develop opportunities to expand it. 
  • Coordinate with the Creative and Content teams to develop effective marketing and communication campaigns that are consistent with the ministry’s brand. 
  • Implement A/B testing and segmented audiences to existing Water Mission marketing campaigns. 
  • Lead paid advertising and coordinate digital advertising with other team members and vendors. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 


What is required?

  • Personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ. 
  • Alignment with Water Mission’s Statement of Faith and core values of Love, Excellence, and Integrity. 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. 
  • Four to six years of experience in executing marketing, communications, and development campaigns with demonstrated skills, knowledge, and successespreferably in the international NGO sector.  
  • Proven success in overseeing the creation and implementation of complex, multi-channel marketing projects. 
  • Proven experience developing sustainable brand strategies and educating others about the effective execution of those strategies 
  • Ability to understand a high-level vision and execute with the best results.  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate ideas and feedback constructively.  
  • Strong process orientation, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.  
  • Highly proactive, creative, organized, and results oriented. 
  • Ability to effectively manage an unpredictable workload and competing priorities to meet concurrent deadlines while also responding with flexibility to unanticipated requests. 
  • Experience with CRM tools required. Experience with Blackbaud applications and at least one other CRM platform preferred. 
  • Home internet bandwidth strong enough to support video conferencing and other job-related responsibilities is required. 
  • Flexibility to work periodic nights and weekends as required for ministry operations.  
  • Domestic and international travel may be required up to 10%
