Fee for Service Recovery Peer Group Facilitator
POSITION SUMMARY
The Recovery Peer Group Facilitator assists in implementing effective strategies for educating the public about recovery from alcohol other drug use and other habit-based issues such as gambling. The Recovery Peer Group Facilitator conducts evidence-informed peer recovery meetings through the Youth Recovery CT initiative and promotes the initiative’s events using a variety of communication tools. The Recovery Peer Group Facilitator has a visible role and works in close partnership with the public, state and local funders, and community providers and community coalitions to promote awareness of recovery, specifically for the teen, young adult, and family populations. The Recovery Peer Group Facilitator works independently under the direction of the Program Manager and exhibits a high level of critical thinking, judgment, and decision making.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree is required. Critical thinking, excellent oral and written communication, and project coordination skills required. Experience working with youth, adults, and diverse populations in a peer support role or prevention professional role and in a culturally responsive and respectful manner is preferred. Working knowledge of relevant software and experience with Microsoft Office applications is required. Excellent communication and documentation skills, attention to detail, and time management skills are also required. The position requires local travel, and a flexible schedule including evenings.
Licensure Requirements for Clinical Positions
-Credential(s) Required: Must have, be working on, or willing to acquire recovery peer support facilitator training.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively facilitates peer recovery meetings and disseminates of recovery knowledge related to substance use or similar issues such as gambling.
Coordinates with staff on creating and distributing recovery awareness campaigns and initiatives in partnership with funders and as directed by department goals.
Effectively utilizes social marketing, social media and other emerging technologies as recovery and health promotion tools.
Actively participates in peer supervision and project planning and coordination meetings with internal staff.
Collects and reports on demographic, statistical, and evaluation data for assigned programs and activities.
Completes necessary data entry and other required tracking and data management.
Develops and maintains holistic knowledge of populations being served including cultural, ethnic, sexual orientation, gender, and ability difference.
Trains on recovery, peer support, prevention and health promotion topics as qualified and appropriate.
Assists supervisor in duties necessary for the success of the program and department.
Promotes the Center for Prevention, Wellness and Recovery at Wheeler Clinic and its activities throughout the state.
Assists supervisor in providing excellent customer service, responding to funders and providing community outreach in accordance with program goals and objectives.
Helps supervisor implement and maintain an effective communication strategy to promote projects and relationships with existing partners.
Adheres to agency operating standards, guidelines, and code of ethics.
Continues to develop knowledge and understanding about the history, traditions, values, family systems, and artistic expression of groups served as well as uses appropriate methodological approaches, skills, and techniques that reflect an understanding of culture.
