Contract Facilities Technician 

 

Introduction:

We have an excellent opportunity for aContract Facilities Technician to join our team.

 

This is a contract position based in Pasadena, CA. and will be working fully onsite.

 

 

Job Duties Include:

  • Perform a variety of skilled work in the maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including but not limited to the maintenance and repair of industrial equipment (chillers, cooling towers, boilers, air handling units, and humidifier, etc.).
  • Maintain and repair equipment in cleanroom environment.
  • Support HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Perform a variety of other skilled building maintenance tasks including repairs to doors, windows, and other building parts.
  • Support electrical wiring needs: Installs and repairs wiring, switches, and other electrical systems.
  • Operate a variety of equipment, machines, and power tools; maintain tools and equipment in a safe, clean, and proper working condition.
  • Estimate cost of labor and materials for work orders; obtain competitive prices for equipment and supplies needed. Purchase tools, equipment, and materials as needed.
  • Perform diagnostic testing to determine maintenance needs as necessary.
  • Monitor and respond to alarms generated from the Building Management System.
  • Receive, filter, and execute work order requests as necessary.
  • Maintain records on equipment manufacturers’ technical notices, upgrades and safety issues.
  • Contribute to the continuous monitoring system (Isensix) for the facility to prevent adverse impacts / events on critical equipment.
  • Support Laboratory equipment Maintenance/Calibration/Qualification program.
  • Other duties may be assigned from time to time.

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree / Trade School / Technical Certification (HVAC/R, Electrical, Plumbing).
  • 3+ years of related Facilities and Maintenance experience preferred. Prior experience in BioPharma/Life Sciences is highly desirable.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical technology and tasks, HVAC systems, welding and/or other technical building maintenance fields.
  • Experience using Building Management Systems and Environmental Monitoring Systems.
  • Strong drive to learn and succeed.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organized and detail oriented, with strong time management skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on a team.
  • Requires one week per month on-call.
  • Must be able to work full-time, on-site, in Pasadena, CA (with occasional trips to other facilities in Monrovia and San Diego)
  • Certification as a journeyman electrician preferred
  • Certification as an HVAC journeyman preferred

 

 

Additional Requirements for Laboratory and Research Related Jobs

This role may involve exposure to experimental subjects and/or specimens including infected samples, plus various Hazardous Materials and infectious agents (Bloodborne Pathogens, or other potentially infections materials (OPIMs). Therefore, the following are also required:

  • Ability to follow the established Environmental Health & Safety rules, procedures, and/or BioSafety Guidelines
  • Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDSs)
  • Knowledge of biosafety techniques and aseptic/gowning practices
  • Experience with laboratory safety standards and procedures, including biohazard handling and disposal techniques, and the ability to ensure laboratory compliance with required safety regulations

 

Expected Hourly  Salary Range:  $32.00 - $39.00

The actual salary will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications, including skills, competencies, education and experience.
