Branch: Kennett Area YMCA

Pay Class: Part Time

Shifts/Availability: Varies

Pay Rate: $13.00-$14.00.

 

About the YMCA of Greater Brandywine: The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW), an association of eight YMCAs serving Chester County, is a non-profit organization committed to nurturing the potential of every child, promoting healthy living and fostering social responsibility through life-changing programs for all. 
 

Position Purpose: As a secondary staff person, the Junior Camp Counselor is responsible for the safety, well-being and supervision of the campers. All assigned duties will be performed in a manner reflecting the YMCA of the USA character development traits of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility. 

 

 

Responsibilities: 

 

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers in the group and camp-wide and ensure a risk-free environment for all.  
  • Assist with the implementation of activities in accordance with the camp schedule.  
  • Maintain positive relationships with campers, parents, and staff. 
  • Organize and maintain camp equipment, supplies, and property.  
  • Actively participate in all aspects of the day camp schedule as assigned.  
  • Maintain camp records including, but not limited to accident & incident reports, sign in/out sheets, attendance documents.  
  • Maintain expectations of the YMCA guidelines for requirements/ratio and help others do the same.  
  • Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • Must be at least 16 years old. 
  • Prior experience working with children, preferred. 
  • Ability to effectively use technology for programmatic needs. 
  • Attend all required pre-camp and camp season training and meetings as scheduled. 
  • Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings before first day of camp.
