Job Title: Head Camp Counselor 

Branch: Kennett Area YMCA

Pay Class: Part Time 

Shifts: Monday – Friday/DayRate: $14.00 - $14.50 

 

About the YMCA of Greater Brandywine:  The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW), an association of eight YMCAs serving Chester County, is a non-profit organization committed to nurturing the potential of every child, promoting healthy living and fostering social responsibility through life-changing programs for all.  
 
Position Purpose:  The Kennett Area YMCA is looking for energetic and motivated counselors who enjoy planning and leading activities for summer campers ages Kindergarten to 6th grade. 
  

Responsibilities:  

 

  • Ensures the safety and well-being of all campers in the group and camp-wide  
  • Plans and leads activities in accordance with the camp schedule  
  • Responsible for direct supervision of campers in assigned group.   
  • Maintains positive relationships with campers, parents and staff  
  • Organizes and maintains camp equipment, supplies and property  
  • Actively participates in all aspects of the day camp schedule as assigned  
  • Maintains camp records including, but not limited to: accident & incident reports, sign in/out sheets, attendance documents  
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor  


Qualifications:  

 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and/or have prior experience in working with children in a camp environment.
  • Ability to effectively use technology for programmatic needs.
  • Attend all required pre-camp and camp season trainings and meetings as scheduled.
  • Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings before first day of camp.
