Branch: Kennett Area YMCA
Pay Class: Part Time
Shifts/Availability: Weeknights 4-8pm varies, M, Th, Fr, Saturdays 9am-12pm
Rate: $14.00-17.00

Position Purpose: The Kennett YMCA is looking for an enthusiastic Swim Instructor to deliver our swim lesson program while providing excellent member service and engagement of program participants.
Responsibilities:
- Lead swim instruction to develop skills of all participants
- Assist in ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants
- Follow YMCA of Greater Brandywine Aquatic Class best practices:
- Be a positive YMCA role model with an enthusiastic attitude
- Classes will start and end on time
- Greet participants and learn their names
- Identify your participants’ limitations and adapt your classes and/or provide modifications accordingly
- Communicate positively and accurately with all the parents/guardians of participants
- Participate in branch and swim lesson special events
- Actively participate in all in-house required drills, including mock drills and monthly in-house trainings
- Assist in setting up and cleaning up pool deck and help in closing pool if conditions are unsafe
- Assist with the completion of progress reports and deliver in a timely manner
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Swimming experience required, prior experience in competitive swimming and/or teaching swim lessons preferred
- Obtain and maintain YMCA YSL certification within 6 months of hire
- Demonstrated the ability to relate and positively interact with children and adults
- Be able to demonstrate the five main components of swimming – freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke and butterfly
