About the YMCA of Greater Brandywine: The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW), an association of eight YMCAs serving Chester County, is a non-profit organization committed to nurturing the potential of every child, promoting healthy living and fostering social responsibility through life-changing programs for all.
Position Purpose: The Camp Counselor is responsible for the safety, well-being and supervision of the campers. All assigned duties will be performed in a manner reflecting the YMCA of the USA character development traits of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures the safety and well-being of all campers in the group and camp-wide and ensure a risk-free environment for all.
- Assists with the planning and implementation of activities in accordance with the camp schedule, submitting written plans prior to each week or as assigned by Camp Director.
- Maintains positive relationships with campers, parents, and staff.
- Organizes and maintains camp equipment, supplies, and property.
- Actively participate in all aspects of the day camp schedule as assigned.
- Maintains camp records including, but not limited to: accident & incident reports, sign in/out sheets, attendance documents, etc
- Maintains expectation of the YMCA requirements/rations and help others do the same.
- Works collaboratively with Head Counselor for assigned group.
- Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age and/or have prior experience in working with children in a camp environment.
- Ability to effectively use technology for programmatic needs.
- Attend all required pre-camp and camp season trainings and meetings as scheduled.
- Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings before first day of camp.
